This website, my first, has been my creative outlet for the past 3 years, and whilst it has been of a poor standard of late there are, hidden deep in my archives, many posts of which I am very proud. To date just short of 470,000 individuals have had a glimpse of my life, if only for a second, and I thank you for time and comments. Which have ranged from the supporting, objectionable, profound and obscene, to the somewhat absurd.
The highlight of my blogging journey was discovering that this here site had been banned in China and a number of Middle Eastern countries(18months ago aprox). Exactly why the Chinese government (and the others) chose to censor me, a 20 something nobody with nothing but dreams and angst to his name (a ban which to my knowledge has since been lifted), I will never know. At the time all I could think was that my message, if I even had one was lost in translation. Looking back, the reason is now clear to me, they weren't censoring me for what ever I may or may not have been saying they were purely protecting them selves from anything and everything (as) "There was no telling what people might find out once they felt free to ask whatever questions they wanted to." (Joseph Heller, Catch-22)
What that episode did teach me, which I feel is a valuable lesson we all should learn is that no matter how much of a progressive, accepting and connected society we think we life in, there is still much work to be done.
Now, of course I'm not ready to thrown down my gloves, but I feel this site has reached the end of its often colourful and dark journey. What I thought before, whilst valid at the time has changed. I have changed, I’ve grown up, or at least I trying to. I no longer believe that salvation comes in a Harvey Nichols carrier bag, or that my dentists assistant can whiten away my sins.
I do still believe however, that we have to make our own destiny. That if we find ourselves deeply unhappy, we must make great strides to challenge that.
And so now I find my self in Spain, taking one step at a time, trying to carve a new path in the stone. Trying to find a place to call home. Just trying, because at the end of the day that’s all we can do.
So i present you my new blog, the title of which I must apologize for profusely (have you tried finding an available and cheap domain these days), which should be operational at the weekend. I hope it will be more inspired, concise, free from my overbearing ego and that it will show you that change is indeed possible. I hoping to document my life and thoughts in a more honest fashion by cutting the umbilical bullshit that has followed and contaminated me for too long.
Ive been in living in Spain now for coming upto 2 months and I have to say Ive rather taken to it. I will take some pics soon, I promise, but Ive been far to busy adjusting to the new pace of life, work, the unforgiving heat.Ok well thats it, I want your comments damit, its been soo long and I miss you all.
I have some exciting news. Ive been offered a job for a company based in the southern most part of Spain, and lets be honest I would have been crazy to turn down the offer of my life time. Its still not sunk in that in a a few measly weeks Ill be saying good bye to the country that has been home to all but one year of my life, and whilst Ill miss my friends and family here I feel a better life awaits me abroad.
Besides I look cracking with a tan.
So the countdown begins, 3 weeks to go until this site once again becomes a travel blog.
I'm in the news again guys, well kind of, the clip below is of an hourly news pod on Current TV (Sky Channel 193) . I'm quoted at 1:44, commenting about the Nigerian governments decision to ban condoms.
Its pretty freaky seeing your photo and having a robot voice speaking your very words on international TV.
You know how I'm a fan of gay Israeli Disco, right, well check out the clip below. Now it may not be the best song out there, and I would never advocate the wearing of vests, but as a responsible, authoritative blogger who's only concern is the issues that really matter, I felt it my duty to bring to your attention - bevy of beauties cavorting on a beach (with strobe lighting of course).
Whilst were on the ever important subject of Disco, take a look at this little gem. Am I the only one who thinks robot dancing is long over due a comeback.
